We hired Holtslander & Sons to take down four large (40+ feet) spruce trees on our lot line and grind the stumps. The trees were about 20 feet from our house and our neighbor’s house. Their crew skillfully removed all four trees using a boom truck on three of the trees and climbing the last. No damage to our house or our neighbors house. They were meticulous with their clean up. They were also fair on their pricing and were up front on timing, expectations, insurance, etc. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs tree service.

The work done today was excellent. Five dying, large evergreens were efficiently taken out, machine shredded, stumps ground and not a trace was left behind! A number of trees were well trimmed and old stumps were ground, too. I was asked about each tree to be trimmed, a walnut, an apple tree, a redbud, an elm and mulberry tree. Just wanted to share this experience I had with a Holtslander crew. Our neighbor had them come out and take care of some serious tree damage after a storm a month ago. Fortunately, none of our trees were knocked down, but we had a stack of brush and branches down by the road. I did not personally use this business but I did have to offer a little positive feedback. I called for a service during a peak-season following a bad storm in the area with many people needing tree removal services. The gentlemen on the phone answered, and politely said they had no availability in the coming weeks due to the bad storm. However, he went above and beyond and immediately offered another contact that might be able to help. This was losing business on his end to help out a fellow contractor, and in the end the customer (me) was able to secure service from the contact that was offered. Had two trees taken down and stumped, crew arrived promptly and in total it was 2.5 hours which I thought was very reasonable, they even had to bring in another machine to do the stump removal as the first one broke. They raked up all the stray pieces of tree and removed everything, aside from the chips from the stump you wouldn’t know trees had been removed. They are here right now so I’ll do another review when done but so far amazing. I have a mega tree that other companies (even local) quoted obviously insane prices because they didn’t want the job. This tree has no landing zone, is probably like 100 ft high and a massive cottonwood pain for all my neighbors. They have a cool crane that cuts it piece by piece safely since a person cannot do it and there is no where to fall. Alex has responded to me all the way, his people are friendly, they are keeping the road as open as possible for others and just overall a pleasure and I highly recommend this place !! I had a large oak tree that was right between my house and detached garage. It had received some damage in the recent ice and snow storms, and it was time for it to come down. There was very little clearance between the tree and the roofs, along with having several skylights to keep clear of. Holtslander and Sons not only was prompt and competitive in their response and pricing, they quickly removed the tree like it was no big deal. I’ve used Holtslander & Sons Tree Service for a few years for tree trimming and removal, on recommendation of a neighbor. On a recent Sunday evening a storm came through and felled three very large trees, one of which fell onto my raised deck. This would be the biggest job I’d ask them to do and I’m glad I did! I texted their rep who told me he’d be out the next morning to provide a quote. He arrived right on time. Around noon on Monday, the Holtslander crew was already out to start work. They worked through pouring rain to remove two of the fallen trees: one that prevented them from safely getting to the one on my deck and the one leaning on the deck itself. Their concern about safety of the crew and the order in which they tackled the individual challenges proved to me that they were the right team for this job. They had to use heavy equipment and the crew took a lot of care to limit any additional damage that equipment might cause to surrounding landscaping, despite the challenging conditions they faced. Alex, who led their crew, told me they had to call it quits for the day due to the heavy rain and to prevent causing unnecessary damage to the lawn. The crew came out later in the week once things had dried up to clear the third tree. Their price was very fair for the amount of work they were up against and the care they took in getting the job done. A few weeks out, there is no sign that they were ever here (barring the fallen trees missing). I’m glad I had their number, will continue being a returning customer, and highly recommend them to anyone who needs tree service!

I have used Holtslander and Sons Tree Service before and they are the only tree service I trust, as I know they do exceptional work. I contacted Alex and stated that I needed his expertise and knowledge to analyze some tree work that we needed done. He agreed to come and look at our situation. During his assessment he pointed out work to be done that we hadn’t even noticed: There were some large branches hanging over our roof that needed to be removed, the front tree line of our property had additional dead trees that needed removal, and many trees needed a hard pruning. In addition, we had a very challenging tree situation (removal of a dead maple tree) that was 10-15 feet from our house. It was at least 30 feet tall. He stated that he and his crew could do it-they just had to bring the crane in. His pricing was very reasonable. PRUNING Before pruning our trees, Alex and his team double-checked with us to make sure that we were on the same page, respectfully made excellent/additional recommendations during the pruning, and did a beautiful job. CLEANUP Once they were finished, they left the yard looking better than they found it; after what I consider to be a substantial operation. They concluded the cleanup with a huge broom attachment that spanned the width of our 331 foot long driveway. SUMMATION Alex, the owner of Holtslander and Sons Tree Service, and his team, Hunter and Phil, were absolutely outstanding. The crew is efficient, professional, and highly skilled. Every crew member worked non-stop and extremely hard. Alex supervised and worked alongside his crew all day. He constantly monitored and walked areas that were already finished to see if the work was completed to his and our satisfaction.
